Colon Cancer: Saving Your Life Through Early Diagnosis

Colon cancer is a kind of disease that is very hard to detect in its early stages. You have to consider the fact that colon cancer can be effectively treated if it is diagnosed early. When it reaches more advanced stages, the chances of getting treated for this kind of disease will decrease especially if the cancer has spread to different parts of your body and to other organs.

Caffeine Protects Against Brain Cancer

Regular consumption of caffeine can help people fight the risk of deadly brain cancer, according to a scientific study. The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) revealed that people who had more caffeine in their diet were less likely to suffer from brain tumors such as gliomas, which can be difficult to treat. EPIC researchers studied the diets and lifestyles of half a million men and women over eight years and compared cancer rates among those who frequently consumed caffeinated products to volunteers who had little or no caffeine.

Brain Cancer Survival Rate

Brain Cancer Survival Rate:A brain tumor is basically characterized by the abnormal or uncontrolled growth of cells in the brain. The brain tumors occur in the brain in two different ways - some tumors spread from a cancer affected part of the body to the brain, while some other tumors start their growth in the brain itself.

Brain Cancer Symptoms

Brain Cancer is a malignancy that can be detected and treated only with a detailed medical examination. It is not a routine ailment since in most cases it is fatal. However, not all brain tumors are malignant. Benign brain tumors pose no threat and can be successfully removed.

Sometimes cancerous tumors of the brain will not spread out to other areas of the body but will simply stay in the cranial cavity itself. It will however, often attack other tissues in that area and result in serious problems and challenges.

Tumors forming in the orbit, paranasal sinuses, and base of the skull on which the brain sits, rest in sensitive areas that demand expertise and skill to avoid serious damage and disfiguring scars.

Cell/Cordless Phones and the Link to Malignant Brain Tumours

The largest scientific experiment in the history of the world is underway right now and guess what..it's our children that are the guinea pigs. As cell phone use ramps up globally children are using both cordless and wireless devices and parents are unwittingly allowing their underdeveloped brains to be exposed to massive dose of radiation when the telephone earpiece is placed against the side of the head. If parents really knew the dangers do you think for one minute they would expose their children this way? In other parts of the world these facts have been demonstrated through studies but here in North America and in Canada the denial continues. The government says there is no risk, the manufacturers say there is no risk but studies, more than 170 of them suggest there is a link and many doctors and scientists are sounding the alarm.

Brain Cancer Survival Rate - Know Your Chances

Known to be one of the most incurable types of cancer, brain cancer survival rate may not be something a patient would really want to hear. Different medical sources would tell you different results based on different aspects to consider but one thing remains true until today - brain cancer survival rate for most patients suffering from the disease is pretty low.

Cell Phones and Brain Cancer - The Truth be Told

It is interesting that we have seen a good deal about the challenges of Cell Phones in the media lately. I've noted articles in the USA Today, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and on TV on CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC. What concerns me is that there were studies in Switzerland in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999 and yet it was as if there was a media blackout here in the US.

Book Review: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire is the second book in The Hunger Games Trilogy, and almost 6 months after I read the first book, I get to read the sequel. I voluntarily restrained myself (with much effort, of course) from buying the last two books because of a self-imposed book challenge (where I'm miserably failing, as of the moment) I set at the beginning of the year.

Book Review: The New World by Patrick Ness

The New World is the prequel to The Chaos Walking Trilogy, the first book of which (The Knife of Never Letting Go) I liked so much, and it has taken so much of my self-control not to buy the next two books. Book Review: Anna And The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I am old. This I conclude after I finished reading this book which I downloaded from a site the name of which I already forgot. Book Review: If I Bring You Roses, by Marisel Vera

Award-winning, first-time novelist Marisel Vera pens an honest, heart-felt, often sad tale of an idealistic, naive Puerto Rican girl named Felicidad who goes to America to be with the man she loves. The story, told from an author omniscient point of view, begins in the early 1940's in the Puerto Rican countryside and ends about ten years later in Chicago. It follows Felicidad's life from the time she's a young jíbara living in appalling poverty in the mountains to the time she gets married and moves to America

Is Obama Now Paying the Price for the Left Wing Media's Relentless Attacks on Bush?

It is truly amazing to me in hindsight how Obama supporters are criticizing anyone who gives critique to the president's performance. In fact, it seems to me that the Obama Administration has gotten by with much more than the Bush Administration could ever have hoped for. Indeed, the left wing media, and socialist-liberals were absolutely relentless attacking President Bush in the media, engaging his speeches with protest, and slamming him online in Internet forums at every step of the way.

The New Reagan Revolution: How Ronald Reagan's Principles Can Restore America's Greatness

I had mixed feelings at times while reading "The New Reagan Revolution: How Ronald Reagan's Principles Can Restore America's Greatness" by Michael Reagan with Jim Denney. The book has a Foreword by Newt Gingrich and is also endorsed on the cover by Rush Limbaugh. Therefore, you can tell right now that if you are a liberal, die hard democrat, or just someone who leans that way, you are not going to like this book much. Unless you are reading it to learn more about conservative principles that Ronald Reagan stood for. If you are a conservative, you are going to enjoy this book much more. I think most people will figure that out by the cover, but wanted to make it clear that if you like this book or not will really be decided by your political views.

Natural Selection

The History of White People is not a conventional narrative in which the major events are lined up neatly in a row to be studied. Rather it's an intellectual history about the invention and development of white racial consciousness and racialist theory from the time of the ancient Greeks to the present, particularly as it relates to America's transition from colonial outpost, to melting pot, to multiracial superpower. It's essential to understand that the history of racism isn't just the story of white against black. In the pyramid of racialist theory Nordic White and African Black were simply the two extremes of the spectrum, the top and bottom of the pyramid. In between were the Celts, assorted Catholics, Eastern Europeans and Slavs, degenerate whites, "Alpines", the Italians and other Mediterranean types, and, of course, the Jews. Asians were seen as being so low on the evolutionary scale that they were often overlooked entirely in this theoretical construct. Indigenous populations such as the Native Americans and Native Australians were believed to have gone the way of the dinosaur, overtaken and made non-existent by natural selection. Inferior, "beaten" races were obviously not equipped by naturewith the means to compete with those who believed themselves to be at the apex of evolution. Such a relentless identification of "inferiors" based on a philosophy of racial superiority could only ever lead to conflict, war, and genocide, which, of course, it did.

The History of White People by Nell Irvin Painter

In an effort to understand why this world is the way it is it's occasionally necessary, for me at least, to find a new way of looking at human history. The History of White People by historian Nell Irvin Painter has succeeded in giving me a completely different perspective on both the present and the past, not to mention my own variegated background.
